Cross Cultural Training |
Cross cultural training provides information, insights, and strategies for participants
to build inter-cultural competence and prepare them for the challenges of managing such
a major transition. Cross Cultural Training Programs designed by TCC can be adapted
to any destination and designed to increase the cultural competency of an individual,
groups or families.

What are the risks you want to avoid in an overseas assignment?
Obviously you want your people to complete the business assignment successfully, however
many things can go wrong both for the employee and in their interactions with others.
Problems with cross cultural communication, inadvertently offending your hosts, failure to
understand and adapt to the cultural differences in business environments, personal prejudices
or stereotypes can block cultural adaptation; all these factors can affect the success of an
overseas assignment.
And that’s just at work! Within the family - issues of adapting to new schools,
making new friends and finding new work or social opportunities can create an unsupportive
environment taking the focus from the work assignment and, as the research shows, often leading
to early return.
Cross Cultural Coaching
What if your employee didn’t have time for training prior to departure or is having
difficulty putting the learning into practice?
On-going cross cultural coaching reinforces the training in the new location providing opportunities to discuss situations of cultural
challenge or confusion and the strategies used to manage the situations.
This can enhance the cross-cultural competencies learnt as well as assist with personal adaptation to the new location.
Coping strategies, change management skills and family issues can be discussed and goals set to work
through the adaptation and increase competence in the new environment. Through telephone or internet
connections such coaching can be provided to any location in the world.
In circumstances of cultural diversity where a manager may be managing a multi-cultural team coaching
can provide an opportunity to review management styles, cross cultural communication skills and
inter-personal skills. Cross Cultural training can also be used in Australia to assist
newcomers in adapting to the work environment.
